Dialysis
With approval from your doctor, DCA offers the
flexibility for individuals to receive dialysis care at home.
Because these treatments are done without medical staff, we
provide training and support services. The Patient
Care Team continues to monitor your treatments
and health during monthly dialysis clinic visits.
Peritoneal Dialysis
Peritoneal dialysis (PD) uses one of the body's own membranes
- the peritoneum, which is the lining of the abdomen - as
a filter to clean the blood and remove excess fluids. It works
by placing dialysis solution into the abdomen via a catheter,
and is then drained after being in contact with the peritoneum
for several hours. This process is repeated throughout the
day; and sometimes can be done while you sleep using the assistance
of a cycler.
Home Hemodialysis
Hemodialysis is done in the home using a small portable dialysis
machine that requires no special plumbing or electrical outlets.
Treatment days and times can be customized by your doctor
based on your medical condition.
